Top Things to do in Kauai

1. Unplug and relax: Kauai is all about relaxing, sitting by the pool or beach, and taking in the sounds of the waves and lush greenery of the island.

2. Hike the Kalalau Trail: the most beautiful hike brings you spectacular views of the Napali coast. Try to hike to the beach which is 2 miles one way and be rewarded with some fun in the water and perhaps a picnic before trekking back.

3. Tubing in an old plantation: this adventure has been the highlight of our trip the last two times. An open air van will take you from Lihue to the mountain where you will go tubing in the plantation ditch and tunnel system that once irrigated sugar cane crops. Guides at Kauai Backcountry Adventures are top notch, some will even serenade you will ukulele music in the tunnels. End this 3hr tour with a picnic lunch.

4. Swim with sea Turtles: Poipu Beach is a calm cove where kids love to play, turtles love to swim and sunbathe, and snorkelers get to see an abundance of fish and coral. For peak turtle spotting, come late afternoon. Be sure to abide by the law and keep your distance from these majestic creatures.

5. Visit the “Grand Canyon” of the Pacific: the views at Waimea Canyon State Park are breathtaking. You will see waterfalls, bright red soil, and rolling hills.

6. Hob Nob Around Princeville: Princeville is definitely the pinnacle of luxury on the island. Walk the grounds at 1 Hotel Hanalei, check out Tunnels Beach and swim in Hanalei Bay.

Top 10 Things to Do in Copenhagen

1. Grab a delicious Smørrebrød: This traditional open-faced sandwich features a variety of seasonal ingredients on rye bread. Shrimp and Marinerede sild (pickled herring) were our favorites.

2. Explore Tivoli Gardens: This is likely the most beautiful amusement park you’ll ever visit. As the second oldest amusement park in the world, it boasts 30 rides, stunning landscapes, and fantastic restaurants. Be prepared as an operator on the old wooden coaster will personally pull the brakes.

3. Stroll along the iconic Nyhavn district: Lined with colorful buildings along the waterfront, this area offers charming shops, restaurants, and cafes.

4. Take a photo with The Little Mermaid: Arguably the most visited tourist spot in the city, it’s definitely a must-see for any travel bucket list.

5. See Copenhagen from the water: We recommend a smaller group tour like @Heycaptaincph. The captain was incredibly informative and friendly.

6. Visit the King’s Garden (Rosenborg Garden): As a rose lover, this was a highlight. The garden features an amazing assortment of roses. We also toured the castle and Crown Jewels, which was an interesting stop.

7. Indulge in Scandinavian design: Copenhagen is a design lover’s paradise. Check out Illums Bolighus, a multi-level store filled with beautiful household furnishings and decor.

8. Visit the Windmill at Kastellet: Located at “The Citadel,” this Dutch-style windmill originally supplied the citadel with flour. While it might not be a must-see on its own, it’s conveniently located near The Little Mermaid.

9. Witness the Copenhagen Guard Change: The Danish Royal Guard marches from Rosenborg Castle to Amalienborg Palace daily from 11:30 am to noon.

Kauai has more rocky beaches than Maui or Honolulu, but it’s just as beautiful. These pictures were taken near the @grandhyattkauai, our go to hotel in Poipu. My kids love the pools, the evening live music in the atrium, and the happy carefree atmosphere.
